Classical Guitar Recital: Peter Fletcher
October 15 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will offer an audience friendly, solo recital including repertoire from the Renaissance Period through the 20th Century. The free recital will take place at 3pm on Sunday, October 15 at Curry Public Library. Seating is first come, first served; no reservations are required.
The program will feature Bach’s Chaconne and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring; Three Dances from Thesaurus Harmonicus by French lutenist Jean-Baptiste Besard; Giuliani’s Variations on a Theme by Handel; the ever-popular Caprice No. 24 by Paganini; Four Preludes by Mexican composer Manuel Ponce and music by Scarlatti and Villa-lobos. In addition, Peter will perform a hauntingly beautiful piece by the Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco entitled Melancolia from Platero y Yo, a cycle commissioned by Andrés Segovia. He will also perform his own transcription of the Allemande from Bach’s Keyboard Partita No. 4, which will be part of his all-Bach album to be released by Centaur Records in 2024. The concert will culminate with Isaac Albeniz’s Córdoba (Cantos de España).
Peter Fletcher began guitar study at the age of seven and is now in demand as a performer in cultural venues throughout the country. His interests outside of music include gardening, running, bike riding, and fountain pens. An avid reader, he prefers the works of Cervantes, Proust, Faulkner, and Balzac.
