Britt Festival Orchestra: Chamber Music Concert

December 18 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Britt Festival Orchestra Chamber Music presents Renia Piotrowski-Shterenberg, violin, Ilya Shterenberg, clarinet, and Lisa Truelove, cello, performing music of Bach, Haydn, and Beethoven. This concert is free, open to the public, and funded by a generous grant from the Tammis Day Foundation. Registration is not required. Seating is first come, first served.

About the musicians:

Renia Tiotrowski-Shterenber is the General Manager of the Britt Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Oregon. The “BFO,” as it is fondly referred to by locals, is an orchestra made up of musicians from around the country and abroad who come to the three-week summer music festival to perform seven concerts at the beautiful outdoor Britt Pavilion. Renia has been a professional violinist since 1998, performing with many orchestras, including the Charleston Symphony, Austin Symphony, and San Antonio Symphony, until she retired from orchestral performance in 2021. Renia also serves as the Executive Director of Olmos Ensemble, a chamber music group based in San Antonio, and she is on the governing board of the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon (YSSO) based in Medford, OR. She was a member of the BFO violin section from 2004-2012, and is very happy to return to serve the orchestra as its General Manager.

Principal clarinetist of the San Antonio Philharmonic and principal clarinetist of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra (Columbus, OH), Ilya Shterenberg balances a busy career as an orchestral musician, chamber music performer, and a soloist. Hailed by the press: “He possesses that miraculous gift of an innate musical sense…music seemed to flow toward the infinite, as if divinely ordained,” he has been numerously featured as soloist with both orchestras. He has also been featured as Principal clarinetist with Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Seattle Symphonies, and has collaborated with some of the most notable conductors of our time. Away from the orchestras, Ilya is very active as chamber musician, festival performer, and educator. He is a member of Olmos Ensemble; his summer appearances have included the Colorado Music Festival and the Britt Festival. Ilya’s performances have been heard on National Public Radio stations throughout the country as well as Chicago’s WFMT nationwide classical music network. He performs frequently as a recitalist and chamber music artist with Cactus Pear Music Festival and the North Shore Chamber Music Festival. Ilya is a Buffet Group USA performing artist.

Lisa Truelove is assistant principal cellist with the Rogue Valley Symphony, and plays regularly with the Southern Oregon Repertory Singers. Lisa has given numerous recitals at Gold Beach Books & Art Gallery with her pianist husband Stephen. She performs every summer with the Britt Classical Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Oregon, and often with the North State Symphony in Chico and Redding, California. She has performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland as both a cellist in musicals and plays, and performed onstage in a production of Chekhov’s “Three Sisters.”
