Cartographer Dave Imus

Dave Imus is an award winning cartographer who sees maps being as much about art as geography. Slate Magazine called Imus’ Essential Geography of the USA, “the greatest paper map you will ever see.” He has been featured in over a dozen national publications and won the prestigious Best In Show at 2010’s Competition of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society. Imus will be giving a presentation about the evolving role of maps in our digital world.

Former Oregonian journalist Phil Stanford will read from his books Portland Confidential and Rose City Vice, which deal with the seedy underbelly of Portland in the 50s and 70s respectively. Stanford will give participants a look into the long and storied past of Portland’s organized crime, and the police corruption that allowed it to flourish there for decades.
